The Miramar Hotel
The Miramar Hotel was originally an ancient manor standing proudly on the eastern ridge of Vence looking out over spectacular panoramic views of the nearby mountains and Mediterranean Sea.
After it's convertion in to a hotel in the 1920's it became "The Hotel Mirabaou" and became not only very popular with visitors to the region but also for the local "Vençois" who would meet for lunch or dinner at its famous garden terrace "Restaurant Biffi".
The latest renovation sees it transformed into a truly beautiful work of art. The entire hotel including all 18 rooms (each with private bathroom, telephone & satelite TV) has been beautifully decorated in Provencal themes by local artist Philippe Roessler and the main reception areas, restaurant and lounge are all adorned with his wonderfully detailed murals. | |
A colourful garden leads onto the terraces with their amazing views, and a descretly positioned swimming pool sharing those same incredible views completes the perfect location for your painting holiday.
Vence
The old town of Vence is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel, it's large stone walls, narrow streets and ancient buidings are a painters paradise. For extra inspiration there are numerous galleries as well as a museum and of course the famous Matisse Chapel.
Vence is a beautiful town, authentically French and not over-run by tourists. The people are friendly, the countless pictureque views - inviting, and when you've finished creating your masterpieces at the end of the day, there's an attractive evening atmosphere if you fancy a quite evening stroll.
